Southeast blueberry producers have the answers to their potential concerns at their fingertips with the MyIPM application (app). The app is accessible by smartphone and can help growers diagnose problems in the field, whether they are a disease or insect issue, and apply necessary control measures.

Jonathan Oliver, University of Georgia (UGA) assistant professor and small fruits pathologist, highlighted the app during the Blueberry Update Meeting in Alma, Georgia, in early January.

“I talked about the MyIPM app which gives information on fungicide efficacy. It has a lot of pictures of these diseases and tells basic information about cultural and chemical controls that can be used. That app is currently available,” Oliver said. “The MyIPM app, if you see something amidst with the blueberries in the field, you can scroll through a bunch of pictures and say, ‘It looks like I have that.’ Here’s a list of recommended fungicides for the Southeast. You can look that information up as well.

“I also talked about the app for the Blueberry Advisory System. That’s also readily available. Both of these can be seen on your smartphone. You can get alerts from the Blueberry Advisory System app.”
