Abnormally dry and moderately dry conditions still persist across certain areas of the Southeast, according to the most recent release of the U.S. Drought Monitor.

Abnormally dry conditions in Alabama are seen in the southern counties like Escambia, Covington, Coffee, Dale and Houston. Dry conditions are also observed as far north as Saint Clair, Blount, Etowah, Marshall, Cherokee and Dekalb counties. Moderate drought is seen in a couple of counties in Southwest Alabama, including Washington, Choctaw, Clarke and Marengo.

Georgia’s dry conditions are worse and more widespread. Severe drought is seen in a couple of counties along the east coast of Georgia in Columbia, McDuffie, Warren, Wilkes, Lincoln and Elbert. Moderate conditions are observed as far south as Worth, Tift, Irwin, Coffee, Bacon, Appling and Wayne counties. Moderate conditions are seen as far north as Hall, Lumpkin, White, Habersham, Rabun, Towns, Union, Fannin, Gilmer and Murray counties.

North Florida has sufficient moisture. Most of the remaining areas in the state have dry conditions, ranging from abnormally dry to severely dry. Severe conditions are seen in Pasco, Hernando, Citrus, Sumter, Lake, Marion and Volusia counties in central Florida, and in Hendry, Palm Beach, Broward, Collier and Miami-Dade counties in southern Florida.
