Registration for the second annual Organic Food and Farming Summit is now open! Presented by Florida Organic Growers (FOG), the summit aims to educate organic and conventional growers alike on organic production methods.
Similar to last year, the summit will consist of food and farming tours, a trade show, and short- and long-form educational seminars. The first day of the summit, July 27, will include food and farming tours throughout the day, as well as the long-form sessions, including a food safety session where growers can receive their food safety certification. The first day will end with an evening reception to open the trade show.
The second day, July 28, will include the shorter seminars, and the trade show will be running all day. According to Andi Emrich, summit coordinator with FOG, the shorter seminar topics will range from raising chickens on a pasture to growing organic 101.
Emrich said FOG is excited to invite gardeners to attend this year’s event. “We wanted to make it more accessible to people that may not have a farm, but have a space to grow,” Emrich said.
The summit will be held July 27–28 at the Hilton University of Florida Conference Center in Gainesville, Florida. To register, visit the website or call Emrich at 352-727-7146.
