Seminar sessions are scheduled for the upcoming Florida Ag Expo, slated for Thursday, Nov. 9, at the University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS) Gulf Coast Research and Education Center in Wimauma, Florida.
Josh McGill, show director for AgNet Media, highlights what attendees can expect with the general session in the morning and breakout sessions in the afternoon.
“Florida Ag Expo is right around the corner. We’re excited for this year and excited to see the seminar agenda come out. We have some great talks lined up,” McGill said. “We’re going to get to hear some of the great things that are happening at UF, especially with the AI (artificial intelligence) center going in there at the Gulf Coast Research and Education Center. Rob Gilbert will be addressing the audience and discussing that. We’re also going to get to hear from some farmers. We have a great panel lined up that will end that morning general session. We’re excited to see that and talking to some of the FFVA (Florida Fruit and Vegetable Association) emerging leaders. They’re going to put together a panel and talk about some of the future of farming and what they see as challenges coming down the road.”
Tripp Hunter, government affairs manager with the FFVA, will discuss policy priorities heading into an election year in 2024.
Breakout sessions will center on pest management and emerging technologies. UF/IFAS researchers will focus on ways to help specialty crop producers remain sustainable now and into the future.
“As always we’ll have the CEU sessions in the afternoon; both the pest management sessions as well as a technology and best practices session. We’re excited for that,” McGill said. “It was hard work for the seminar committee to put this together, but we’re excited for it and look forward to a good show.”
