Florida remains mostly moderately dry. The southern area of Alabama is abnormally dry, as are the southwestern and southeastern areas of Georgia. That is according to last week’s release of the U.S. Drought Monitor.
Florida’s worst conditions of moderate drought start as far north as Taylor and Lafayette counties and stretch southward to Monroe and Miami-Dade counties. Severe conditions are located in Lee, Glades, Hendry, Palm Beach, Collier and Monroe counties.
Alabama’s abnormally dry conditions start in Washington and Monroe counties and stretch eastward to Barbour, Henry and Houston counties, and as far north as Lowndes, Montgomery and Bullock counties.
Moderate dry conditions in Georgia are isolated to Early, Miller, Decatur and Seminole counties in southwest Georgia; and Echols, Clinch, Ware, Charlton and Camden counties in southeast Georgia.
A small portion of Chesterfield, Darlington, Marlboro and Dillon counties in South Carolina are abnormally dry. The eastern region of North Carolina is abnormally dry.
