The 31st annual Southwest Florida Farm Safety Day is scheduled for Friday, May 6 and Saturday, May 7 at the University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS) Southwest Florida Research and Education Center in Immokalee, Florida. The educational event is designed to emphasize the importance of farm and equipment safety.
The deadline for registration is Friday, April 22. The cost is $25.00 per person, which will include educational sessions, handouts, pencils, refreshments, lunch, door prizes and a cap. Those interested can choose either day to attend.
Attendees need to be present at 7:30 a.m. on either Friday or Saturday to receive their nametag. Upon arrival, each participant will check in at the registration table and collect a packet containing their nametag, instructions (in both English and Spanish) session handouts, an evaluation form, rodeo cap and pencil. They will be directed to their respective course sessions.
The number of trainings offered and attendance at each training is limited. For each day, class size is limited to the first 80 Spanish-speaking and 20 English-speaking people.
Safe and competent equipment operators are important to farmers. Â Accidents can cause damage, injury or death to employees, equipment and crops. They are costly. Â
