The Florida Grower Citrus Show is next month, and the lineup of speakers is one you won’t want to miss. Tripti Vashisth, associate professor and citrus Extension specialist at the University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences Citrus Research and Education Center, will be talking about the potential of plant growth regulators (PGRs) in rejuvenating HLB-affected citrus.
PGRs she will discuss include gibberellic acid and cytokinin. “We are going to talk about how we can make trees healthier and how the gibberellic acid application in the summer can affect the post-harvest quality of the fruit and internal fruit color,” says Vashisth.
“We saw significant improvement in the trees with the gibberellic acid application. Even after the hurricane damage, the trees produced more fruit. So, that is encouraging results, and growers will get to see that data,” says Vashisth. “We are getting into the time of the year that we should be making decisions about PGR application. So, this talk will be quite timely for that.”
Vashisth’s presentation will take place during the citrus breakout session at the Florida Grower Citrus Show.
Registration is complimentary for commercial growers, farm owners and managers, professional crop advisers, association executives and board members, and the government, legislative and agricultural research communities.
The trade show is currently sold out, but if you fill out a registration form, your company can be added to the exhibitor wait list. There are still a few sponsorship opportunities available. Reach out to events@agnetmedia.com to secure your sponsorship.
