Heavy rains over the past week have helped alleviate much of the drought-like conditions being observed across the Southeast, according to the U.S. Drought Monitor.

The driest area remains in southern Florida. Abnormally dry conditions and moderately dry conditions are seen in the central and southern parts of the state. Abnormally dry conditions start as far north as Volusia and Lake counties and stretch to Broward and Collier counties. Moderate conditions are sandwiched in between, starting as far north as Brevard and Osceola counties, stretching south to Palm Beach, Glades and Collier counties and stretching westward to Sarasota and Manatee counties.

Most of Alabama has sufficient moisture, though a small part of the northeastern part of the state is abnormally dry. Those counties that have abnormally dry conditions include Talladega, Shelby, Jefferson, Saint Clair, Etowah, Dekalb and Cherokee.

Rain has been very prevalent throughout Georgia. It has no abnormally dry conditions. It has sufficient moisture.

South Carolina has sufficient moisture. The eastern part of North Carolina is abnormally dry.
