Persistent rains over the previous week across the Southeast has left most of the region with sufficient moisture except for southern Florida, according to the latest release of the U.S. Drought Monitor.
Most of the southern region of Florida is either abnormally dry or moderately dry. The dry conditions start as far north as Volusia, Seminole and Orange counties and stretch southward to Miami-Dade and Monroe counties. Moderate conditions are observed as far north as Osceola and Brevard counties, as far south as Palm Beach and Hendry counties and stretch from Sarasota and Manatee counties eastward to Martin, Saint Lucie and Indian River counties.
Sporadic dry conditions are observed in the northern area of Alabama. Abnormally dry conditions are seen in parts of Talladega, Calhoun, Saint Clair, Jefferson, Shelby, Bibb, Etowah, Marshall and Dekalb counties, along with Lamar County in west Alabama.
Georgia and South Carolina have zero dry conditions. They have sufficient moisture. A couple of counties in the northeastern area of North Carolina are abnormally dry.
