(WASHINGTON, D.C./July 2, 2025) – Leaders of the Specialty Crop Farm Bill Alliance (SCFBA) are expressing strong support for the U.S. House of Representatives’ passage of H.R. 1, the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act,” highlighting its vital investments in America’s specialty crop industry.

“We are grateful to Chairmen Thompson and Boozman and their staffs for advancing these vital investments in specialty crops, which the SCFBA has advocated for since 2023,” the alliance said in a statement.

Specialty crops—including fruits, vegetables, tree nuts, and horticultural products—make up more than half of what Americans eat and nearly a quarter of all U.S. crop value. The SCFBA emphasized that meaningful federal support is critical to sustaining the family farms that provide the nation with nutritious, high-value food.

While celebrating the passage of H.R. 1, the SCFBA acknowledged that additional priorities remain. Proposals to invest in mechanization, modernize federal procurement to include more fruits and vegetables, and reform crop insurance for specialty crop growers were not included due to Senate rules.

“These investments are a key piece of the puzzle to enhance competitiveness,” the Alliance said, “but there is still work to be done.”

The SCFBA pledged to continue working with Congress to pursue remaining policy goals and advance comprehensive, bipartisan farm legislation.

The SCFBA is co-chaired by Cathy Burns (International Fresh Produce Association), Mike Joyner (Florida Fruit & Vegetable Association), Dave Puglia (Western Growers), and Kam Quarles (National Potato Council).
