Blake Thaxton, executive director of the AFVGA talked about next year’s conference and how it will recognize this year’s award winners.

“We’ll be recognizing all the folks who win these awards at the conference in February. It will be Super Bowl week, and we have our football theme; Team AFVGA: Gameplan for Growth,” Thaxton said. “We’re excited to go down to Gulf Shores again and have a tailgate party there on the beach and put our heads together on how we can grow as a team and industry to lift everybody up together.”

The conference will feature multiple breakout sessions that highlight vegetable production, orchard fruit and nuts, small fruit and marketing. Round table discussions will be held, focusing on wholesale marketing, indoor growing, farm to school and cut flowers.

The Friday portion of the conference will focus on insect and disease protection in fruits and vegetables as well as variety trial results for fruits and vegetables.
