The new site for this year’s Citrus and Specialty Crop Expo will provide a more enticing location for producers from Georgia and Alabama to attend this year’s event.
The Florida State Fairgrounds in Tampa, Florida, will serve as this year’s location for the two-day event. It will certainly attract more of a presence from growers in neighboring states, believes Josh McGill, show director for AgNet Media.
“We think the new location will certainly help with pulling, not only more growers from North Florida, but South Georgia and South Alabama as well. Also, the Tampa area has a lot more of a vegetable and specialty crop presence there. We’re thinking that will make it a little bit easier for growers coming in,” McGill said. “Also, with it being Tampa and closer to a major airport, we’re seeing a lot more international growers registering, so we’re excited to have them as well.”
The Expo had been held previously in Fort Myers, Florida, approximately two hours south of Tampa.
This year’s Expo will be held from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Aug. 16 and from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Aug. 17. Information about this year’s seminars will be released at a later date.
