The Alabama Fruit and Vegetable Growers Association (AFVGA) Annual Conference and Trade Show is about a month away for industry enthusiasts and specialty crop growers in the region. Those interested in attending should remember that regular registration will end Jan. 19.
The cost for regular registration is $225. The last day to cancel and receive a refund is Jan. 23.
The conference is scheduled for Feb. 4-6 at the Lodge at Gulf State Park in Gulf Shores, Alabama. Breakout sessions, featuring vegetable production, orchard fruits and nuts, small fruits and marketing and farm management, will be held on Thursday, Feb. 5. There will also be a round table discussion, featuring industry experts, including Blake Thaxton, AFVGA Executive Director, on Thursday from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
On Friday, Feb. 6, there will be an Alabama Variety Trial Showcase, featuring vegetables, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:40 a.m.; and with fruits, from 10:45 a.m. to noon. IPM Conferences for both fruits and vegetables are also scheduled for Friday.
The tradeshow will be open on both days.
A field demonstration will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 4 in Fairhope, Alabama.
This year’s conference theme is, “Game Plan for Growth: Team AFVGA.”
