Alabama Extension is asking the state’s citrus producers to complete a survey to assess the extent of damage from the January freeze and snow event earlier this year.
The short, anonymous survey will help researchers and Extension professionals evaluate the extent of the damage across the cold-hardy citrus region; guide future research and recovery efforts; and strengthen support the region’s growers and nurseries.
The survey is intended for all Alabama citrus farmers and nurserymen, no matter the extent of damage.
Complete the survey here: https://www.aces.edu/go/citrusfreeze. Such questions include: How many years have you been in operation? What county are you located? How many citrus acres do you farm? How many plants did you farm before the freeze/snow event, and how many did you lose? What type of frost protection do you implement, and would you say if it was successful?
There are also questions pertaining to replanting and what is your estimate in economic losses?
