Alabama specialty crop growers are reminded that the Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries, Alabama Department of Labor and Alabama Cooperative Extension will educate growers on the H-2A guest worker program during an in-person educational session on Nov. 7.
It will be held from 8 a.m. to noon in the Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries auditorium at 1445 Federal Drive in Montgomery, Alabama.
Registration is free. Interested growers can contact Adam Rabinowitz at adam.rabinowitz@auburn.edu or 334-844-5620 for more information.
The morning event will provide guidance on the rules and regulations of the program, process for completing applications, insights into the economics of utilizing H-2A labor and enhance knowledge of the importance of the program.
H-2A allows agricultural employers to bring nonimmigrant foreign workers to perform agricultural labor or services of a temporary or seasonal nature. This is done when there is a shortage of domestic workers.
