According to the South Florida Pest and Disease Hotline, bacterial spot disease remains a problem in tomato and susceptible pepper plants around the southwest Florida area. In some instances, bacterial spot and speck have been observed moving to the top of the plant and infesting stems, new growth and fruit.
Bacterial spot also remains a significant issue in multiple locations in the central part of the state, especially after a recent rain event. It remains the main issue in tomatoes.
Heavy bacterial spot pressure is also being reported in susceptible varieties in the Homestead, Florida area. This is especially noticeable in fields without Actigard.
Bacterial spot is low in tomato and not an issue in pepper along the east coast.
