Drought-like conditions continue to be prevalent over all of Florida and most of Alabama, though there is sufficient moisture in most of Georgia. This is according to the most recent release of the U.S. Drought Monitor.

Alabama’s dry conditions continue to range from abnormally dry, which are prevalent throughout most of the state, to extreme drought in the northern areas of Limestone and Madison counties. Severe drought is still being observed in Lawrence, Morgan and the southern areas of Limestone and Madison counties. It’s also seen in Southwest Alabama in Clarke, Choctaw, Marengo, Sumter, Hale, Perry, Dallas and Wilcox counties.

Moderate drought conditions are observed across North Florida counties. One area is located in the Panhandle in Franklin, Liberty, Gadsden, Gulf, Calhoun, Jackson, Bay, Washington and Holmes counties. Moderate conditions are also seen in Northeast Florida, starting as far west as Taylor and Lafayette counties, stretching eastward to Duval and Saint Johns counties and southward to Levy, Marion and Citrus counties. The rest of Florida is abnormally dry.

Georgia’s dry conditions are concentrated to the southeast, southwest and northern parts of the state. Moderate conditions are observed in Decatur, Seminole, Mitchell, Baker, Miller, Early, Clay, Calhoun and Dougherty counties in Southwest Georgia.
