Drought remains mostly a non-issue for the Southeast amid the constant rainfall specialty crop growers have experienced this summer, according to the July 10 update of the U.S. Drought Monitor.

Florida continues to experience the driest conditions, concentrated mostly in the central and southern regions of the state. Severe drought is observed in the southernmost counties, including Palm Beach, Broward, Miami-Dade and Monroe. It is also seen in Indian River and Brevard counties along the east coast.

Abnormally dry conditions comprise most of the remaining drought areas, stretching as far south as Collier and Hendry counties and as far north as Duval, Clay and Saint Johns counties. The Florida Panhandle is drought free.

Minimal drought conditions are present in Georgia. Columbia and Lincoln counties in the northeast part of the state are experiencing abnormally dry conditions, as are Madison, Franklin and Hart counties, located just to the north. The rest of the state has sufficient moisture.

The only dry area in Alabama is located in the southeast part of the state. Abnormally dry conditions are seen in Dale and Henry counties. The rest of the state has sufficient moisture.
