Abnormally Dry Conditions Still Prevalent in Areas Across Southeast Region

The most recent release of the U.S. Drought Monitor shows abnormally dry conditions in North Alabama and North Georgia and along the west coast of Florida.

Florida’s driest conditions start as far north as Dixie, Gilchrist and Alachua counties and stretch southward to Lee and Collier counties.

Georgia’s dry conditions are concentrated mostly to the northwest part of the state. Counties as far south as Carroll, Douglas and Fulton are abnormally dry. The abnormally dry conditions stretch northward to Dade, Walker, Catoosa, Whitfield, Fannin, Union, Towns and Rabun counties.

Counties in central Georgia like Twiggs, Wilkinson, Johnson, Washington, Baldwin, Putnam and part of Jasper are abnormally dry.

Alabama’s driest conditions are located in the northern most counties. Moderate dry conditions are observed in Lauderdale, Limestone, Madison, Jackson, Lawrence and Morgan counties. Abnormally dry conditions are observed in northern Alabama as well, stretching from part of Lauderdale County southward to Lamar, Fayette, Walker and Cleburne counties.

Only a few areas of South Carolina are abnormally dry, while dry conditions in North Carolina are mostly concentrated to the eastern part of the state.
