Web AdminDrought

The latest release of the U.S. Drought Monitor shows diminishing dry conditions across most of the Southeast, though northern Alabama and Northwest Georgia remain abnormally dry.

The dry areas in North Alabama start in Lamar, Fayette and Walker counties and stretch to the northernmost counties in the state. Moderate dry conditions are observed in Franklin, Colbert, Lauderdale, Lawrence, Morgan and Limestone counties.

Abnormally dry conditions are also seen in Madison, Jackson and Dekalb counties.

Georgia has sufficient moisture except for a small couple of areas in the northwest part of the state. Abnormally dry conditions are seen in parts of Walker, Dade and Catoosa counties; and also southward in parts of Floyd, Gordon, Bartow, Polk, Paulding, Cobb, Cherokee, Fulton and Dekalb counties.

Florida’s dry conditions remain concentrated along the west coast, starting as far north as Citrus County and stretching southward to Collier County. Moderate conditions are observed in Pinellas, Hillsborough, Manatee, Sarasota and parts of Charlotte and Lee counties.

South Carolina is drought free, while only small areas in the northern part of North Carolina are abnormally dry.
