Florida tomato growers should mark their calendars for Thursday, Sept. 5. The annual Florida Tomato Conference will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Clewiston John Boy Auditorium in Clewiston, Florida.
The event attracted nearly 300 attendees last year which led to it being moved to a larger location. The venue will provide a better learning experience for attendees, space for socializing and ample parking, says Craig Frey, Hendry County Extension Director and Multi-County Commercial Vegetable Extension agent.
Industry and research updates will be given in the morning from 9 a.m. to noon, followed by new product presentations by select sponsors from noon to 1 p.m. The Food Safety Workshop/T-GAP renewal presentations will be provided in the afternoon from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. The Hendry County Cattlemen will once again provide a ribeye-steak lunch from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.
Registration is free for employees of Florida tomato growers/packers, sponsors, presenters and university personnel. The cost for other attendees is $50. Registration information and the program agenda will be announced soon.
