The Georgia Ag Forecast will be a one-day event in 2022. Instead of being held at multiple locations in January like prior years, next year’s event will be held at the University of Georgia (UGA) Tifton Campus Conference Center in Tifton, Georgia on Jan. 28.
Mark McCann, assistant dean for University of Georgia Cooperative Extension, discussed the importance of the UGA College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (CAES) event returning to an in-person setting.
“It’s important to get back and connect with our audience. I know in the production meetings everybody is excited to be back in person and see people face to face,” McCann said. “We’re going to provide masks for people that are more comfortable with them. We’re going to keep hand sanitizer out. The little things we’re still very conscious about, yet we’re reveling in the fact we can see our folks and can connect and visit.”
While the event will be isolated to one location in Tifton, it will still be streamed live as well for those who can’t make it in person.
UGA CAES specialists will provide the latest economic projections for agriculture in Georgia and the U.S. to help farmers and agribusinesses make decisions ahead of the next growing season.
There will be breakout sessions for growers to attend: Livestock/poultry and horticulture; and row crops and forestry.
Registration will be held at 7:30 a.m., and the event will start at 8:30 a.m. with remarks from Michael Toews, UGA Tifton Assistant Dean; Nick Place, UGA CAES Dean and Director; and Jeffrey Dorfman, UGA Professor.
