Alabama Extension will host a high tunnel vegetable workshop on Wednesday, June 29 from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

High Tunnel Vegetable Workshop
A high tunnel pest exclusion system allows integration of natural enemies due to the enclosure.

The meeting will be held at Gibbons Farm, 1162 County Road 42, Prattville, Alabama 36067.

Interested attendees will learn about high tunnel vegetable crop management as well as other topics like irrigation and fertility management, pest exclusion systems, insect monitoring and IPM updates.

According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), a high tunnel is a plastic covered structure that allows producers to increase production of certain crops, grow some crops that could not be grown in their area otherwise, and extend the length of time in the growing season that the crops may be grown.

Participants will also learn about NRCS program opportunities.

Those interested in attending need to register by Friday, June 24. Contact Krystal Ward at (334) 356-1855 or klward@midsouthrcd.org for more information.
