Last year, AgNet Media incorporated vegetable and specialty crop seminars into the 28-year-old citrus event, Citrus Expo. The change was met with positive feedback from both growers and industry members. Therefore, AgNet Media decided to expand that side of the program and debut the Vegetable and Specialty Crop Expo, which will be held in conjunction with Citrus Expo. The two expos will share the same great trade show that growers look forward to every year.
PLANNING UNDERWAY
Planning for the expos is already well underway. Last month, the AgNet Media team met with several University of Florida researchers to discuss the vegetable and specialty crop seminar program. Like last year’s program, attendees will have the opportunity to earn continuing education units and Certified Crop Adviser credits at the event, while learning about the most recent industry updates and cutting-edge research. The program will explore topics of interest to South Florida growers such as pest and disease management, precision agriculture and up-and-coming alternative crops.
The event theme, “Growing Stronger,” will represent both the vegetable and specialty crop program and the citrus program. As each industry conquers different challenges, the growers and their crops will continue to grow stronger.
Growers with suggestions for topics they would like considered for the vegetable and specialty crop program are invited to email their ideas to Events@AgNetMedia.com.
TERRIFIC TRADE SHOW
Since the Vegetable and Specialty Crop Expo is being held in conjunction with Citrus Expo, both events will share the same large trade show. It is expected to be the biggest trade show in the industry, with over 200 exhibitors. While walking the trade show floor, attendees can make connections and see the latest products and services available to them. Plan to stay for a networking reception in the trade show hall following the first day of the expo.
MARK YOUR CALENDARS
The Vegetable and Specialty Crop Expo will take place Aug. 14–15 at the Lee Civic Center in North Fort Myers, Florida. Pre-registration will open on June 1. All pre-registered growers will be entered for a chance to win a John Deere gun safe donated by Everglades Equipment Group. For more information, visit VSCExpo.com.
