
North Carolina (N.C.) State Extension will be hosting a two-day, in-person learning workshop for Spanish speakers to prepare to take the N.C. Private Pesticide Applicator certification exam. This free preparation course will take place May 5-6 at the Wayne County Cooperative Extension Center. It will prepare participants to take the private pesticide applicator exam and obtain pesticide certification.
Topics that will be covered include licensing and certification, pesticide laws and regulations, pesticide management, pesticide labeling, pesticides in the environment, dangers of pesticide use and first aid and personal protective equipment. The schedule for the two-day program is:
- Monday, May 5, 2025: 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
- Tuesday, May 6, 2025: 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.
While the event is free, there is a $30 cost for lunch. Participants can prepare their money order or checks to Wayne County Cooperative Extension for $30 and mail or drop off at 3114 Wayne Memorial Dr, Goldsboro, NC 27534 (Covers lunch meals for both days). Leading up to the course, there will also be optional free virtual preparation sessions. These optional workshops are designed to help participants prepare for the class and exam. The preparation courses will consist of 10 virtual workshops for participants to attend. Items that will be covered are N.C. Pesticide Applicator Core Manual in Spanish, key chapters, concepts, and study and testing skills. The online session will be conducted through eight virtual learning sessions that will be taught via Zoom. (Classes will be held in Spanish)
The virtual workshop sessions are from 7:00 p.m. – 7-45 p.m. on the following dates:
- April 2 & 4 (Wednesday/Friday)
- April 9 & 11 (Wednesday/Friday)
- April 23 & 25 (Wednesday/Friday)
- April 30 & May 2 (Wednesday/Friday)
