Pecan prices remain high this week for top quality and export quality pecans, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture Agricultural Marketing Service.
As supply continues to dwindle in the latter part of the season in Georgia, producers likely headed back out to their orchards Wednesday and Thursday following inclement weather the early part of the week.
Prices paid to growers at buyers’ delivery point in lots of 20,000 pounds or less:
Native seedlings, yard tree lots, $0.75-$0.90 per pound; Cape Fear, yard tree lots, $1-$1.25 per pound; Desirables, 50%-52.5% meat yield, $2.36-$2.40 per pound, yard tree lots, $1.25-$1.50 per pound; Elliott, yard tree lots, $1.50-$1.75 per pound; Kiowa, 54%-56% meat yield, $2.40 per pound; Moneymaker, yard tree lots, $0.80-$1; Schley, yard tree lots, $1.25-$1.50 per pound; Stuarts, yard tree lots, $1-$1.25 per pound.
Prices paid to growers at buyers’ delivery point in lots of 20,000 pounds or more:
Creek, 50%-53% meat yield, $2.17-$2.37 per pound; Desirables, 52%-53% meat yield, $2.36-$2.41 per pound.
The next Georgia pecan report is scheduled to be released on Tuesday, Dec. 28.
