Sweet Grown Alabama hosted its annual farm to table dinner on Thursday, June 5 at Dalrymple Farms in Coffee County. The event provided attendees with another opportunity to sample locally grown goods, consisting of locally raised beef, fresh vegetables and honey.
“Sweet Grown Alabama was honored to host our fifth annual farm to table dinner down in Enterprise at the Wiregrass area of Alabama this year. We were able to serve products grown by 15 farms grown across the Wiregrass area. It was a phenomenal celebration of all things local. We had about 150 guests come out and join us,” said Sweet Grown Alabama Director Ellie Watson.

Farms represented at the dinner included Alabama Pecan Company (pecans) in Samson; Aplin Farms (peaches, okra, tomatoes) in Slocomb; Bell Farms (squash blossoms, baby potatoes, red onions) in Dothan; and Hendrix Farm (sweet onions, bell peppers, corn, cucumbers) in Slocomb. Sweet Grown Alabama rotates its annual farm to table celebration to new locations each summer.
“The entire purpose of our farm to table dinner is to reach new consumers across the state who have never interacted with Sweet Grown Alabama before. This year we were able to invite new people into the community that may not have known about Sweet Grown Alabama; leaders in the area and other sponsors and friends nearby that really got to taste and experience local for the first time,” Watson said. “Having these events and having the media come out and getting new farms involved is a real highlight of our year. It’s one of the biggest ways we are spreading the farm to table message to new communities across Alabama every summer.”
