Southeast specialty crop producers should be mindful that the application deadline for the Farm Labor Stabilization and Protection Pilot Program (FLSP) has been extended. Applications now must be submitted by Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2024.
The pilot grant program is awarding up to $65 million in American Rescue Plan Act funding to support agricultural employers in implementing robust labor standards that promote a safe, healthy work environment for U.S. workers and those hired under the seasonal H-2A visa program.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture Farm Service Agency will fund the program, which will be administered by the Agricultural Marketing Service and the Farm Production and Conservation Business Center.
The priorities of the new grant program are designed to address labor shortages in agriculture, reduce irregular migration through expansion of legal pathways and improve labor protections for farmworkers.
