The annual Citrus and Specialty Crop Expo was once again a sweet success for AgNet Media, organizers of the show, which was held Wednesday and Thursday in Tampa, Florida.

Farmers, research specialists and industry experts flocked to the Florida State Fairgrounds in Tampa, Florida, to learn about research pertaining to citrus production and trendy topics affecting citrus and specialty crop production.

Josh McGill, with AgNet Media, talked about this year’s show.

“We had a great show this year, excited to see all of the faces and great grower representation this year. I was looking at pre-registration numbers and looks like we had about 350,000 acres of citrus and vegetables and specialty crops represented here,” McGill said. “We had a great show, some great seminars. The exhibitors brought out their best and finest and had a lot of good equipment on the floor. A lot of good interactions going on, and good to get the industry together.”

Ideal Location

It was the second straight year the show was held in Tampa, which is an ideal location for citrus growers in the Cold Hardy Citrus Association.

“We were excited to have the show back in Tampa this year. It’s a nice location here at the state fairgrounds. I think we get to see a little bit more growers coming down as well from South Georgia and North Florida,” McGill said. “That seems to be one area where citrus is expanding a little bit. It’s been a good partnership with them and good to be at the Florida State Fairgrounds and spread the word on Florida agriculture.”
