Hurricane Milton’s extensive damage to Florida’s agriculture community has led AgNet Media and the University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS) to cancel this year’s Florida Ag Expo event, originally scheduled for Nov. 7 at the UF/IFAS Gulf Coast Research and Education Center in Wimauma, Florida.
The hurricane has caused widespread damage to crops, greenhouses and farm infrastructure. Proceeding with this year’s event was impractical.
“Florida farmers are facing tremendous challenges as they recover from the destruction caused by this catastrophic storm,” said Robin Loftin, president of AgNet Media. “At this time, it is clear that the best course of action is to focus on supporting our farmers and their hurricane recovery efforts.
“We are incredibly grateful to our sponsors, exhibitors, staff and our partners at the UF/IFAS Gulf Coast Research and Education Center who have worked so hard to prepare for this year’s event.”
AgNet Media will continue to dedicate itself to farming operations across the Southeast, and their farmers by sharing news and information regarding hurricane relief as it becomes available. Thoughts and prayers go out to all those impacted by Hurricane Milton and Hurricane Helene.
