This year’s Citrus and Specialty Crop Expo is less than two weeks away. Registration is still ongoing for those interested in attending the two-day event at the Florida State Fairgrounds in Tampa, Florida.
One of the highlights this year at the general session on Wednesday, Aug. 16, will be the keynote speaker, Florida Ag Commissioner Wilton Simpson.
Josh McGill, show director for AgNet Media, discussed the excitement of having Simpson come and speak.
“We were ecstatic when we found out Commissioner Simpson was going to come speak. I think it’s a great opportunity for growers to hear his vision for Florida agriculture and for the Department of Ag and Consumer Services. I think it’s a great opportunity for him to get some good face time with some of the state’s largest growers that’ll be in attendance,” McGill said. “We’re very excited to have him and excited for him to see the show.
“I think it’s a great way for us to bring this event together this year.”
This year’s Expo will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Aug. 16 and from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Aug. 17. Simpson is scheduled to speak at 11:35 a.m. during the general session on Aug. 16.
Simpson serves as Florida’s 13th Commissioner of Agriculture. The position oversees the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.
