Florida specialty crop producers are reminded that an in-person Best Management Practices (BMP) Training will be held at the University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences Everglades Research and Education Center in Belle, Glade, Florida on Wednesday, Sept. 9.
The workshop, which will include lunch, will last from 8:15 a.m. to 2 p.m.
BMP trainings are intended for Everglades Agricultural Area (EAA) growers, farm personnel, water managers and pesticide and fertilizer applicators. University specialists will discuss various topics for the training, including rainfall detention and farm drainage, wise use of pesticides, nutrient management practices, aquatic weed management and pasture mealybugs update.
The workshop’s goals are to review and discuss the principles of the EAA Phosphorus Best Management Practices program and provide participants with the most recent implementation information.
