The Florida Snap Bean Conference, scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 11, has been postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic and strict Palm Beach County regulations. University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS) announced the conference will be rescheduled towards the end of the growing season to provide updates on this year’s research trials.
UF/IFAS hopes to schedule a virtual Asian bean thrips (ABT) meeting during the first week in February. This will provide time for group discussion between growers and consultants about ABT research plans for the upcoming months.
UF/IFAS will monitor the spread of Asian bean thrips throughout south Florida. If population growth rates are similar to a year ago, management will be required in Palm Beach, Martin, and Southwest Florida counties the by the end of February.
Updates will continue on the Asian Bean Thrips Webpage, and weekly emails will resume as populations increase.
