Registration remains open for this year’s Florida Ag Expo event, scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 7 at the University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences Gulf Coast Research and Education Center in Wimauma, Florida.
The Expo is a premier event for specialty crop producers in the Southeast and will once again feature a tailgating aspect to the show this year, says Josh McGill, show organizer for AgNet Media.
“We’re looking forward to this year’s event. We’re bringing back the tailgate format. Last year was the first year trying that out. It seemed to be a big hit, both with the exhibitors and the growers. Exhibitors will be out in the front field of the Gulf Coast Research and Education Center (GCREC) at the University of Florida. They’ll be preparing tailgate food items for growers to walk around, mingle with them and try some great food,” McGill said.
Participating vendors will offer a variety of foods and sweet treats from their booths for growers and other attendees. Last year’s samples featured barbecue, wings, ice cream and Asian cuisine.
The one-day event will start at 7:30 a.m. and conclude at 5 p.m. It will feature multiple educational opportunities which include a general session and multiple breakout sessions that will focus on pest management and emerging technologies.
There will also be a field tour in the afternoon. The GCREC features hundreds of acres of research land that attendees will see firsthand during the tour.
