In this month’s sneak peek, the July issue of Specialty Crop Grower Magazine highlights artificial intelligence and its progress in the agricultural sector. The U.S. market value of AI in agriculture has surpassed $1 billion, though expectations are for that number to increase.
AI’s costs remain the biggest barrier to specialty crop producers adopting it on a wide commercial scale. Multiple producers and industry leaders talked about AI’s usage in their respective crops.
In other news, the Southeastern Specialty Crop Technology Conference & Show was held in Tifton, Georgia, in May. Ag companies and industry leaders attended the two-day event that showcased technological advancements currently available on the market. Luan Oliveira, University of Georgia assistant professor and precision ag Extension specialist, organized the event and talked about its importance to the future of agriculture.
How producers farm today may look differently from how they farm five years from now.
The Citrus & Specialty Crop Expo is also a little more than a month away, scheduled for Aug. 12-13 at the Luminary Hotel and Caloosa Sound Convention Center in Fort Myers, Florida. Attendee registration is open at citrusexpo.net/register.
Also, Frank Giles, editor-in-chief, discusses the farm bill in his message in the magazine’s Up Front feature. Don’t forget the Fresh From SpecialtyCropGrower.Com feature that updates readers on various issues impacting the industry.
