The annual UF/IFAS Citrus Packinghouse Day will return as an in-person event on Aug. 26 at the UF/IFAS Citrus Research and Education Center in Lake Alfred, Florida.
The free event will feature workshops and seminars for industry professionals. Interstate and export regulations, food safety regulations, training opportunities and postharvest fruit processing improvements highlight some of the topics of this year’s event.
The event will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. This is the 60th year of the event.
“We are very excited to once again host Packinghouse Day in person after last year’s virtual event”, said Mark Ritenour, professor of citrus postharvest technology at the UF Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences Indian River Research and Education Center and coordinator for the event. “The program includes many updates that are important for those working in the industry to know for continued efficient and effective packinghouse operations.”
The program was presented virtually last year amid COVID-19.
