University of Georgia Extension is looking forward to assisting Georgia’s commercial apple growers as the season progresses. To help get prepare for another year, Gilmer County Extension will host the annual North Georgia Apple Production Meeting.
The production meeting will be held on Friday, Feb. 11, at the Gilmer County Public Library in the downstairs meeting room from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The meeting is free and open to the public, but registration through the Extension office is encouraged to account for lunch. Please arrive about 15 minutes before the meeting begins to secure your seat and sign in.
This year’s educational program includes speakers with a wide range of expertise, including some of the top Extension Specialists from the University of Georgia, North Carolina State University and the University of Tennessee. The meeting will have an emphasis on topics of importance such as food safety, as well as orchard management and production-related topics such as weed, insect and disease management. Pesticide recertification credit will be available at the end of the program for both private and commercial pesticide license holders.
