According to the U.S. Drought Monitor, dry areas still encompass much of the Southeast region, especially in North Florida, South and Central Georgia and Southeast Alabama.

Florida

Extreme conditions are seen in a couple of areas in northern Florida. One area includes all or part of Jackson, Calhoun, Liberty, Gadsden, Leon, Wakulla and Jefferson counties. The area is located to the southeast in Dixie, Lafayette, Suwanee, Columbia, Union, Bradford, Alachua, Gilchrist, Levy and Marion counties.

Severe conditions in North Florida start in Santa Rose and Okaloosa counties, expand eastward to the coast and cover most of the rest of the state, stretching to Monroe and Miami-Dade counties.

Alabama

Extreme conditions in Alabama are located in Macon, Russell and Lee counties along the Alabama-Georgia state line. Severe conditions cover most of the remaining counties in Southeast Alabama, starting in Houston and Geneva counties; stretching westward to Conecuh, Monroe and Wilcox counties; and northward to Elmore, Tallapoosa and Chambers counties.

Abnormally dry and moderately dry conditions cover most of the remaining parts of the state.

Georgia

Georgia has four different areas with extreme dry conditions. One is located in the southwest corner of the state, including parts of Seminole, Decatur, Grady, Thomas and Brooks counties. Another is located in the southeastern part of the state; starting in Atkinson and Coffee counties and expanding northeastward to Bryan and Chatham counties.

Parts of Chattahoochee, Muscogee and Harris counties along the Georgia-Alabama state line are extremely dry, while Wilkes, Oglethorpe, Madison and Elbert counties are extremely dry as well in Northeast Georgia. The majority of South Georgia is observing severe drought conditions.
